My Dell died and this Toshiba was purchased as a replacement. FYI, the last computer cost a bit over $1,000 - this computer is $499. Perhaps the Toshiba doesn't look as slick, but it functions as well or better than the three-year-old Dell.It was very fast to set this computer up, connecting to the wireless network and getting online took less than 10 minutes. The keyboard is full sized with nice key action. The screen is big, bright and really sharp. Nice.It has some pretty cool features- A button to deactivate the track pad when using an external mouse- an HDMI port for plugging into TVs- the Track pad has a touch feature for expanding and contracting your internet browser- even when the computer is asleep, you can charge your toys like ipad, phone...- there is a media card reader slot for a camera media cardSome drawbacks- The keyboard isn't backlit- It isn't the thinnest or lightest laptop, but it is... Best laptop for the price...
No laptop is perfect, but sometimes you just find a computer that works for you. This laptop does everything I need it to very well.Positives:I bought this laptop so that the entire family had a computer in the living room; the two of us use it regularly. I wanted something that had a new Intel Core processors and HDMI port so that we could hook it up directly to our TV. The best thing about this laptop is the price along with some of the newer features. The screen is bright and the keyboard is nice; I find myself using the 10-key more than I thought I would. Battery is lasting about 6 hours as I am surfing the web on Sundays while checking football scores and watching funny Youtube videos. For those that care about noise this thing doesn't really make any; the i3 processor doesn't seem to run hot and the fan rarely turns on.Negatives:I took off a star because the machine has a lot of junk software on it. Perfect for my use
So, this laptop is low priced, but high powered, at least for what I need it to do. I am pretty much like everyone else and just browse the web and check email on this thing and it does the job just fine for that. It is quick and clippy and I absolutely love having a number key pad. My only complaint about this is that it does not have a USB port on the right hand side of the laptop. Why is this important you ask? Mouse. I have a small travel mouse that I usually use with my laptops and with this one, it has to be plugged all the way on the other side of the laptop. It's kind of inconvenient, but not a deal breaker with me.This would be a great laptop for a kid going off to college or any casual user to just have around the house.BE WARNED: as with most new laptops these days, this one does not come with installation DVD's. That means that if you get a virus or something, you will not have a way to reinstall Windows. It does however have a method for...

8 months, great performance
I have had this laptop for 8 months now - I use it every day for work. MS Office 2003 working fine on it. I can even use Adobe Photoshop reasonably well.Key points:*Extremely low temperature at about 75-80 degrees - this is truly a "lap top"!*A little slow for heavy internet graphics*Sound card is not great, but I play all my music through airtunes to my stereo so I don't care so much*If you want to record internet audio, you will have problems - this is not the laptop for that use*LightweightIf you want a non-nonsense, no-frills laptop for low cost that runs MS Office and can use the internet, I don't know how you can beat this laptop.

Very satisfied with my Toshiba purchase and no problems. This computer has a "2012" i3-2350M with powerful imbedded graphics and is very fast. Only brand of laptop I will buy because of its reputation for reliability and quality; is the Toyota of laptops. These are the most important reasons for me. My second Toshiba laptop.Some previous negative reviews seem phony to me because they mention purchases 1-2 years ago when model L755-S5169 with the "2012" i3 2350M was not even available. A solid laptop for under $500
I bought this laptop a week ago from Amazon. It arrived on time and looked great out of the box. I switched it on and was running windows in less than 5 mts.. The keyboard and scroll pad are nice. Charged the battery to 100% and did video/audio streaming for 3.5 hrs continuously. The battery lasted all along with 13% left after 3.5 hrs. The laptop also felt cool. Excellent graphics and HD pictures. I think the laptop will easily last 5.5 to 6 hrs on normal use. That is value for my money right there. The webcam, mic and LED screen are decent. There are 3 USB ports and there is also a sleep n charge, which means I don't have to have the computer on to charge my USB devices. That is a cool feature. Also, the laptop weighs abt 5.5 lbs and that is not too bad to carry around. I have owned 3 HP laptops before and this is my first Toshiba laptop. I'm very happy with it.The price is an advantage. $479.99 for a quad core processor with excellent graphics and all standard features... Top to learn more

I was amazed at how quickly my laptop came! I opened the box and immediately started to get my laptop up and running. I was just starting the installation and my mouse froze up! I called Toshiba tech support, the male that was helping me, at first gave me "attitude" I was ready to hang up and decided to take a deep breath and chill. Once we got over that moment, we got down to brass knuckles and I was told to power off, remove the power cord and remove the battery...30 seconds later, all was replaced and no more problems with the mouse.The laptop is a little heavy...I didn't pay attention to that when I was comparing several different laptops, before the purchase, but I'll get used to it. lolWindows loaded quickly and now I'm off & running. I love the brightness and crispness of the screen. Toshiba makes great laptops, you will not be disappointed.
I've had this laptop for almost a month now. So far I'm very pleased with it. I use this laptop mainly for everything a college kid does, as well as development software like Netbeans, Adobe, Eclipse, AutoCAD, etc. I'm also a casual gamer.Pros: This thing is a beast, incredible performance and speed. I can have something Dreamweaver and Eclipse open at the same time, while watching a video or gaming and you barely notice a difference. the 2nd generation Intel Core i7 2670QM, aka Sandy Bridge, has a great benchmark. It can overclock to over 3.0 Ghz via Turbo Boost when needed. It has a lot of RAM, 6GB is more than enough, and you probably will never use all of it. For the average person, 4GB is more than sufficient. Starcraft II ran just fine on it, even without discrete Graphics Memory. Of course, for the hardcore gamers, it will be best to get a model with NVIDIA Geforce.750GB is a ton, even more than my external hard drive. Many people don't understand that... Top to learn more
Awesome Size and Performance
Wow. I chose this computer over many others (being a prior Toshiba user swayed my judgement just a bit) because it was reasonably priced and has many features I was looking for. Memory speed was something I would not compromise on, 6 GB is working for me. I have had this out of the box for less than 6 hours and have been AMAZED at the quality. Ohh and on a slightly more personal note.. I have to re-train myself to use the 10-key again!! :) The case of the computer has an interesting finish on it, textured, not smooth. Enjoy. I have an old Toshiba with a dual core AMD turion processor and to tell you the truth, afternearly 4 years of abuse it still works fine. But I needed something more. I am a movie poster on sites like youtube and I do digital artwork. I needed to get a faster, more reliable computer and this one absolutely FLIES CIRCLES around my older model! I tell everyone that an i7 quadcore processor is no joke! On my old computer, it would rip a movie at about 20fps. This one? An AMAZING 155fps! Just unbelieveable! The 8gb of DDR3 ram is no joke either! And with the new usb 3.0 I can load a 2TB portable drive in a matter of about 10 minutes!This computer is so FAST it's IRRITATING! Let me explain. On my older model, I'd click on a program and it would take about 20seconds to load. This one? I can load several programs in a few seconds!One thing that's a bit strange. Great Price, Easy to use, High Quality Construction
After an exhausting amount of research for a laptop , This Toshiba unit came in first in my judgment. Now that I have it, the decision was a good one.The speed of start up, and programs is amazing even compared to my custom built rig of a few years ago, which has an Core 2 Quad processor, GeForce GTX 550 Ti video Card, 8 Gb of ddr2 gaming ram, liquid cooler, etc.Boot time is amazingly fast, video card gives very good quality on every format I have tried so far. Controls are well placed and the feel of the key board is responsive and comfortable. The battery life specs. were one of the reasons I choose Toshiba. The screen size is a very nice plus, extremely bright, clear and sharp. All the adjustments to screen or video settings are easy to find and use, so you can tailor your laptop screen to suit your own personal likes or needs. The on board memory was a slight disappointment as it would have been better to have one 4 gb unit instead of the two 2gb units Toshiba... Top to learn more

Excellent Laptop for business use, incredible screen
If you are looking for a laptop computer with an incredibly vivid and bright screen, a full keyboard that you can actually use comfortably without feeling like you need an external plug-in, and very respectable battery life you should consider this Toshiba Satellite L775-S7130 model. You will be amazed at how bright the display appears and if you wish to maintain the full 5.1 hours of battery life you can use the "Toshiba recommended" power settings that will dim the display some, but still make it very acceptable for constant use without any eye strain or feeling like your display is not quite bright enough. At full brightness your display will be extremely impressive, even brighter than necessary.Although this model uses just the Intel Core i3 CPU, if you are using fairly routine business applications you will enjoy plenty of speed and power. Minor issues but still a nice laptop
The SD card reader worked but said the the card was write protected when it was not. I moved the switch in the SD card slot with a toothpick a few times and this issue was fixed. Also, the DVD drive made noise every 10 minutes because the Toshiba PC health monitor software was checking on it. You can disable this software and the drive will not cycle ever 10 minutes. If you are right handed like most people, the USB ports on the right edge of the machine may not be the best place to plug things in unless you can find devices with a 90 degree plug. So far these have been my only issues. There is also a USB port on the left which I prefer. It boots up fast and the display is very good. I also like the gray finish. Top to learn more
